Google earth provided the inspiration, no Awarua the motivation... 17kayak/spear mission in Bounty Hunter's homeland, the Bay of Islands. 3.30am left the front gate, Craysea2 launched at 7.30am off Rawhiti. 6ks later landed on the stunning white sands of Waewaetorea Island. Watched kingies circle clouds of snaps on the weedlines, then made my way to the ocean side of the island poping this 4kg model sitting at the base of a school of deimoselles. Spooked a Romper Stomper snap over a boulder in open water and disturbed a big school of snaps milling around. Slotted a panny for my neighbour. Made my way back and stopped to watch a pod of five Ocra working stingrays off the scallop beds. The male had what must have been a couple of metre high dorsal fin. Kept a respectful 100m distance. 18k round trip, home by 6.30pm. Stoked to have nailed this trip. - Snoop

Good effort Snoop! 18k paddle and a swim ... (and fish too) - Phantom Menace
