BH and I headed up to our favourite shorey spot early August. He swam right, I swam left, he shot up a few nice fish including a 6kg snap sleeping under a ledge, a dumb porae and a panny snapper. He also managed to "persuade" this nice 2.9kg packie from its home. I managed to single handedly stuff up the stringing of my reel gun and had a 5kg snapper on snoop bust off from a sure thing shot when my shooting line pulled short. I sampled the open coast and moving over a 10m ledge that dipped down to 15m below and open ground I noticed a big big snapper mooching in the open. I pulled back over ledge and tried to draw it in with 20 odd kina granites thrown over. Unfortunately I couldn't draw it it. Would have been pushing the old pb, but not to be. A 6-7kg snapper charged me on the 5.6k swim home but was too slow to react. Returned home with a sole koheru. Great to be out on a classic Kiwi winters day. - Snoop
