from Bland Bay. and bland it was not - what a misnomer! Primo diving conditions. no swell. vis just about right - 8m at the start of the day, reducing a bit as it wore on. no swell. Offshore wind to keep the floatline behaving itself. There was no swell. and i was a comfy monkey in my 5mm suit. did i mention there wasnt any swell? good for poking around the shallows. first fish i blasted was a 10kger - easing down to a ledge. over the edge and continued to drift down, and the big boy just ghosted out from a bit of a cave in front and below me. corrected my downward drift - 5 seconds was enough to close the gap and make it a sure thing. a real dope head snapper - no reaction at all. kept on cruising the shallows, bumping into fish pretty regularly - no more monsters - but saw a couple of 6kgers (maybe same one twice?) could have been a nine fish day had it not for a couple of real bad misses. six was enough anyway. gun has never been totally confidence inspiring from day one, but it has now cost me 2 6kg fish in 2 dives so may look into getting something else - prolly a plain jane 120 rob allen or picasso otherwise all good. m - Bounty Hunter
