Got out a few times in the West - mixed results: - Got out with Barry Paxman 3 hours north of Perth - scored nice Balchin Grouper as in photo - Saw a few Spanish Mackeral and got a spear in a big (30kg?) Sampson fish but my leg got badly wrapped up in the float line and I was being pulled into the depths quite forcefully ... thinking of what happened to Eric DV I cut the line ... it was a very scary few moments hoping the knife would cut the line. Did I mention it cost me my effesub gun last seen trailing behind a large Sampson heading off into the depths ... stink - Got out off Margaret River only to have a copter come and hover above me with siren on warning of big shark sighted nearby ... there are truck loads of whites around there lately and someone was taken a few months back ... needless to say Justine recinded my dive passes after that (it had taken me all my powers of pursuastion to let me out in the first place given all the recent white sightings) - Bought a 1.3m reel gun off Barry Paxman - that's all the use in the West ... so my armoury is now 1) RA 1.2m carbon railgun for NZ snapper, 2) 1.3m RA railgun with reel for general Aussie use and 3) 1.5m freedivers with breakaway and slip tip for bluewater and big kings. All good experience ... boys make sure you have your knives sharpened, seriously ... - Kingie
