| Had a family afternoon on the beach below Kauri Cliffs. Noticed gannets hammering a point at the end of the bay we anchored in, so after teaching Danielle the fine art of snorkeling headed there quick smart - thousands of baitfish milling in 10m, attacked by a large school of kingies and snapper smashing through... left them to sit, headed further round and nailed a big squidy for dinner then back to the school of kings, took one at 15kg, threaded him on my 1m line off the base of the effesub reel gun, then dived down 5m and hung above the school of bait waiting, and sure enough a nice 4kg snapper materialised camoflauged below in the weed, suffered a head shot for his troubles. Threaded him up, then nailed an 6.7kg snap in a gut, issues now, had to dump the 1m line in a cave as too full of fish. Headed back down then "bang" my wishbone line snapped, just as I peered over the ledge at schooling big snapper. Magic - Snoop |
