| Kayaked out off Patataua Bay to Whatupuke Island late in the afternoon. Easterly swell made the seaward side surfable. Missed a snap tucked in a sink-hole below the surge. Headed in and along the dead weedlines. Picked up a couple of porae for Simon back at camp. As the sun set moved to the very edge of the channel. Demoiselles, koheru, blue mao mao, perch and trevs swayed in the current. Duck dived to a holding ledge 5m below and watched a nice snapper move off. Breathed up a couple of minutes later and moved further along, sinking below the demoiselles. Sure enough below the wall sat a nice snapper. Sunk to 8m and placed a shot down the spine and out out the chin. Game over - Snoop |
