Nice looking fish - Porae

Highlights of the weekends far north trip. Some headlines: Ants found the greatest snapper spot in NZ scoring three fish in the 14-17lb range on one dive. Spot X will remain a tightly kept secret ... We found a new awesome pin off the north end of Cavs (Taheke rock??). Comes up from 150m to 10m below surface. Vis was 20m+ with 1000s of fish including trevs, pinkies etc and kings coming in. I scored the 22.5kg model below. We almost scored Ant's mate Jeremey's first king We also dived Ruahine shoal - amazing vis, more schools of kings up to 20-25kgs but we passed as none bigger than what we had. Best part was 12 big rays in bomber formation sitting in current above the rock. Both the above pins could easily produce marlin if you got lucky ... 16 marlin taken ex Whangoroa by fishos - 4 on the friday and 12 on the Sat. We saw quite a few of them weighed in drinking beers at the game fish club. Minties So not quite the 3 kings but not a bad consolation. Go Axemen. - Kingie
