Finally I have secured a spearing partner from amongst my three daughters, Miss Maia Munro (aka Mermaid Jr ... don't worry Jess I think you have a few years before she's a threat at the nationals!). She is 13 years old. We had a great dive at the South Side of the Hen - vis was honestly 25m+. The good vis came in handy as we were snooping along in the shallows with me in front when I spotted a very big (14 ft) bronzie cruising towards us. I swam back and told Maia not to worry and she didn't - even when he swam right up to us for a look and I had to poke him to get him to go away. Once he departed she just started off along the coast not even looking over her shoulder! She took it one hell of a lot better than I did the first time I saw a shark! She scored her first speared fish - a mighty Red Moki, and I managed a nice 3kg snap. Go Mermaid Jr! - Kingie
